Lucid Air

Lucid Air’s unique HMI Layout allows customers to be able to fluidly move interactions and tasks between displays. This helps accommodate for Users’ ergonomic preferences and presents a harmonious HMI while reducing driver distraction.

The Concept

The core system interaction model called “Application Flow” presents a card surface as a metaphor that can transitions between displays.

This helps Lucid deliver a consistent experience throughout the native apps — Navigation, Media and Communications and minimizes the learning curve for the user — Learn one app and you learn ALL the apps.
To make this work, I prototyped multiple iterations of the core interaction model between two displays taking into account unique requirements for each experience.

Shown below are some prototypes I made, running on actual vehicle displays to evaluate and provide a feel for what this interaction might be like in an actual car.
